This animal quiz is built the way I like learning about animals: one surprising fact at a time. Each pack takes about two minutes. Answer a question and you find out straight away why the answer is what it is, with a link to the full story if you want to go deeper. Sea turtle trivia
The sea turtle pack is the one closest to my heart. In Puerto Escondido, on Mexico’s Pacific coast, I helped release olive ridley hatchlings, a species famous for the arribada, when thousands of females come ashore to nest on the same few nights. Watching tiny turtles scramble for the waves makes the numbers in this pack feel very real: of the seven species alive today, six are listed as threatened.
The questions cover what makes each species different, from the leatherback’s jellyfish diet to the flatback, which nests only in Australia. You can read about all seven in our guide to the types of sea turtles.
Why an animal quiz works for learning
Guessing, getting it slightly wrong and hearing the right answer straight away is a well-studied way to make facts stick. That is why every question here explains itself the moment you answer, instead of saving the corrections for the end. A wrong guess about the orca’s family sticks far better than a line in a textbook.

How do I earn a badge?
Score at least six out of eight in a pack. Your best score for every pack is kept, so you can replay any pack as often as you like to improve it.
What does the 50:50 do?
It removes two wrong answers from the current question. You get one per pack, so it is worth saving for a question you really cannot call.
